About and methodology

About StreetCred

StreetCred is financial modelling interview practice in Excel: realistic cases, workbooks scored cell by cell and an AI voice interviewer. Who builds it, how scoring works and how we check what we publish.

The short answer

StreetCred is a practice platform for finance candidates. You build a financial model in desktop Excel, upload the workbook and get a report that scores your outputs, your formulas and your model hygiene, cell by cell. Free quizzes cover every case, and an AI voice interviewer lets you rehearse the conversation that follows the model.

What StreetCred is

  • Realistic modelling cases across operating models, three-statement models, DCFs and LBOs. See the case library.
  • A quiz on every case, free with an account and no card needed.
  • Scored workbooks: you build the model, upload the .xlsx and get a report with exact cell references for every deduction. Read about the method.
  • The Desk subscription (US$35 per month, cancel anytime): every two weeks, choose three deals by model type, and each deal assigns you a case to build and get scored. See pricing.
  • An AI voice interviewer for a mock interview tailored to your target role, and for Present to the MD, a case interview on your own model once your best model score on that case is 80 or more. Free accounts get 3 AI interviews a month; the Desk has unlimited AI interviews. See the AI interviewer.
  • For hiring teams, tailored Excel modelling assessments scored against agreed criteria. See StreetCred for employers.

What StreetCred is not

  • Not a certification or accreditation. A StreetCred score is practice feedback, not an external credential.
  • Not employer-verified, and not a guarantee of interviews, offers or any career outcome.
  • Not a video course. The method is to build the model yourself first, then learn from exactly what broke.

How scoring works

Every StreetCred case has an answer key that maps specific workbook cells to expected values. When you upload your .xlsx, the scorer opens it and compares each scored cell against the key within a numeric tolerance, so a rounding difference does not cost you points but a broken revenue build does.

Cells that should be calculated are also checked for a live formula. If you type the right number into an output cell instead of linking it through the model, the scorer flags it as a hardcode and tells you so in the report: correct value, zero credit for process.

Your process score weights formula quality at 70% and workbook hygiene, such as explicit number formats for currency, percentages, and multiples, at 30%. The report breaks results down by module and lists your top deductions, so you know exactly which schedule to rebuild next.

  • Scoring is deterministic: the same workbook gets the same score. A published case version's scoring never changes; when we improve a case, we publish a new version.
  • AI interviewer feedback is AI judgement. It never changes a model score.
  • We never publish answer keys or expected values.

How we check what we publish

  • Before a case goes live, its scoring is validated against reference workbooks. We also run checks on published cases on a staging copy of the site.
  • Each modelling guide names its finance reviewer and the date it was last reviewed. See the guides.
  • If you think something we publish is wrong, email support@streetcred.finance. We correct errors and update the revision date.

Your work and your data

  • Your uploaded workbooks, reports and scores are not shown to other learners. Authorised StreetCred administrators may access retained workbooks for coaching, support, scoring quality assurance, product improvement and internal training. Statistics we publish are aggregated and anonymised, never individual work. Read our privacy policy.
